- OnlineJuly 24, 2024
This is a free online course from 10:00 - 11:15 AM. Please register ahead of time to access the Zoom link.
How do your constituents interact with their government? Do the same five or ten people show up at every meeting or hearing? Would you like to learn how to engage more of your community in discussions about important public issues? Effective community engagement creates an atmosphere of trust in local government because people feel heard and valued; it also builds a sense of belonging.
In this 75 minute interactive workshop, you will learn:
- How to assess your current efforts at community engagement.
- The difference between “outreach” and “engagement”.
- How to create on-going relationships that reflect the diversity of your communities.
- Helpful policies and structures that encourage public participation.
- The value of community engagement as a way to develop future community leaders.
