Contested Hearings: Essentials for Clerks

    This two-day course is offered through the North Carolina Judicial College. It is intended for clerks and assistant clerks of superior court who would like to become more comfortable conducting contested hearings. Topics will include the clerk's judicial authority, hearing procedures, direct criminal contempt, common evidence problems, drafting an order, legal research and rendering a decision, and fairness and bias. There will be lecture, small group work, and a mock hearing.
