Julie Brenman has more than 15 years of experience in local government. She spent eight years in the city and county of San Francisco, working on budget and policy issues. In 2002, she began working for the City of Durham, where she has served as budget director and assistant city manager. She recently retired from the position of Durham's director of strategic initiatives. Throughout her career, Brenman has taught courses for her employers as well as for the University of California and the Government Finance Officers Association. Brenman earned a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of California, Berkeley and a master's degree in public policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
