Joe Hunt joined the Institute of Government in 1983. Prior to that, he was owner of a consulting and real estate appraisal firm in Nashville, Tennessee, and served as director of real estate assessments in Alexandria, Virginia. He is a member and past president of the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO). He was named Most Valuable Member of IAAO in 1998 and received the Donehoo Essay Award in 1997 and 2005. He has chaired many IAAO national committees and holds their highest professional designation (CAE). He is a member of the Appraisal Institute and holds their highest professional designation (MAI). Hunt is a senior instructor in IAAO’s international education program and is a Certified General Appraiser by the North Carolina Appraisal Board. His publications include articles in Assessment Journal, Assessment Digest, and Popular Government, and he was a contributing author and technical editor for Property Appraisal and Assessment Administration.
