Laurie Mesibov joined the Institute of Government in 1984. She has a particular interest in legal issues related to students and to the curriculum. Mesibov is the editor of School Law Bulletin. In 2005 she began serving as one of two University Ombuds at UNC-Chapel Hill, on a half-time basis. Mesibov earned a BA from Stanford University and a JD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before attending law school, she was a fourth-grade teacher and elementary school librarian on Guam.
