Before joining the Institute
of Government in 1997, Ann Simpson was major gifts manager
for the UNC Center for Public Television. Prior to
that, she spent 16 years working with environmental
protection organizations including the US Fish and
Wildlife Service, The Nature Conservancy, the NC Environmental
Defense Fund, and the Wetlands America program of
Ducks Unlimited. She has also provided consultation
and professional development training in communications
and fundraising for regional and local land trusts
throughout North Carolina. Her publications include
the photography for Into the Sound Country,
published by UNC Press; co-authorship of Endangered
and Threatened Wildlife of NC, SC, KY, TN; and
various articles, newsletters, and brochures. Simpson earned a BA from the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill.
