Sejal Zota joined the School of Government in 2007. She consults, teaches, and writes about the impacts of immigration on state and local government. She has published articles and bulletins on those subjects and is the lead author of Immigration Consequences of a Criminal Conviction in North Carolina. Prior to this appointment, Zota was an instructor in the immigration clinic at New York University School of Law and an attorney with the Bronx Defenders. She earned a BA in economics and public policy studies from Duke University and a JD from New York University School of Law.
