In 1931 Albert Coates envisioned a
new institution devoted to bringing the
highest quality government to the people
of North Carolina. More than 75 years
later, the School of Government at UNC-Chapel Hill continues to
provide superior teaching, research, writing,
and advisory services to government officials
so that they might serve North Carolina's
citizens more effectively, efficiently,
and responsibly.
New programs, publications, and faculty
projects continually address the changing
needs of government in our state. Many excellent initiatives—some created
recently, some planned for the future—are
dependent for their success on
new private and public contributions.
