Instructions for
downloading PowerPoint, Streaming Audio, and PDF files
Click on the link provided for each
file type.
PowerPoint
If you are using Internet Explorer 5.0 or 6.0, the
PowerPoint file should open directly in the browser.
Use your mouse click to advance the show. Use the
print button in your browser to print the slide show.
If you are using Netscape 4.5 or better, your will
get a pop-up window when you click on the PowerPoint
slide link that will ask you to open the file or save
it. Select [open it]. When PowerPoint opens, look
across the top menu options and select [Slide Show]
> [View Show]. To print, exit the slide show by
pushing your [Esc] or by pushing your right mouse
click and selecting [End Show]. Once you are back
in PowerPoint, select [File] > [Print].
Streaming Audio
When you click on the link for the streaming audio,
Real Player should open and begin running the audio
stream automatically. If this action does not take
place, you should see a pop-up window requesting
an application to run the file or requesting Real
Player. The streaming audio requires Real Player,
which is a free download. You can download the most
recent copy at Real
Player's download site. Please follow any policies
your organization has in place regarding downloading
applications to a machine. If you need help downloading
and installing the Real Player application, contact
your system administrator. Once you have downloaded
Real Player, try opening the streaming audio link
in your browser again; it should automatically open
and run Real Player.
PDFs
When you click on the link for the pdf file (the
handouts), Adobe Acrobat Reader should open and
load the file. If this action does not take place,
you should see a pop-up window requesting an application
to open the pdf file. You will need to go online
and download a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader. PDF
files are read by Adobe Acrobat Reader, another
free download from the internet. If you do not have
Adobe Acrobat Reader, you can download the most
recent copy at Adobe's
download site. Please follow any policies your
organization has in place regarding downloading
applications to a machine. If you need help downloading
and installing the Real Player application, contact
your system administrator.
