About the Friends Program

Friends Regions

The map shown above represents the four regions for the Friends of the School of Government. To learn more about the Friends program and how you can become involved, contact Faith M. Thompson at 919.962.8477.

The Friends program was launched in 2002 with the goal of generating additional private and public support for those School of Government programs and activities that are not fully state supported. The Friends program also seeks to increase statewide awarness of the School Government's mission and activities as it works to help public officials and citizens understand and strengthen state and local government.

Four regional councils are composed of more than 180 local leaders from 75 counties around the state. The councils are representative of the School of Government's core client groups and are composed of state, county, and municipal attorneys, clerks, council and commission members, finance officers, health directors, magistrates, mayors, managers, administrators, judges, human resource directors, state representatives and senators, sheriffs, superior court clerks, tax directors, and school board members.

PAST EVENTS

The Friends have held several regional activities during the past four years designed to increase the group's numbers and represented professions. The Friends are now more engaged in activities to produce funding for programs and activities at the School of Government. Please contact Faith M. Thompson to learn how you can help with upcoming activities or events.
