Alex Hess joined the School of Government in 1991 as assistant librarian and was appointed librarian of the Joseph Palmer Knapp Library in 1998. Since 1995 he has taught classes and spoken at programs for attorneys and government officials on subjects ranging from legal materials on the Internet to the structure of state and local government. His publications include “The Evolution of Modern North Carolina Environmental and Conservation Policy Legislation” for the Campbell Law Review (with Milton Heath Jr.) and contributions to County and Municipal Government in North Carolina. Hess earned a BA in history from Louisiana State University and a JD from North Carolina Central University.

Marsha Lobacz joined the School of Government in 1992 as library assistant in the Joseph Palmer Knapp Library and has been assistant librarian since 1996, assisting with research, reference, and technical services. Prior to joining the School, she worked as bindery supervisor at Davis Library at UNC-Chapel Hill and library assistant at West Virginia University Health Science Library. She attended West Virginia State College, Wake Technical Community College, and UNC-Chapel Hill.

Yadira Conyers joined the School of Government in 2005 as library assistant in the Joseph Palmer Knapp Library. Prior to joining the School, she worked at the New York University’s Bobst Library. Conyers also works with the Chapel Hill Public Library. She is pursuing a library and information science degree at Central Carolina Community College.
