This conference focuses on topics of interest to those involved in municipal and county finance. Local government finance officers will have the opportunity to meet with their peers to discuss common problems and seek solutions in the fields of accounting, finance, taxation, employee relations, management, and systems and procedures. In addition, participants will be updated on proposed legislation and learn about the many changes occurring in their profession. The topics for the conference are selected by a planning committee composed of members of all three sponsoring organizations.
Level of Knowledge: Advanced
Experience Level: Advanced. Participants either should be the finance officer of their unit for a senior member of the staff.
Conference Fee: Please note that this year there is one fee for the conference registration. You must be a member of the NC Government Finance Officers Association (NCGFOA) to attend the conference. If you are not a member of the NCGFOA, the League of Municipalities will bill you the membership fee. **Note that the School of Government does not maintain the membership lists for these organizations. Please contact the League of Municipalities to determine if you are a member.
Recommended Continuing Professional Education Credit for C.P.A.'s: 2 ethics CPE hours and 10 regular CPE hours.
The School of Government is registered with the North Carolina State Board of C.P.A. Examiners as a sponsor of continuing professional education. North Carolina Government Finance Officers Association
Instructors: The instructors and speakers are experienced finance officers, budget officers, accountants, or attorneys with significant and recent experience in their assigned fields.
Teaching Methods: Lectures, opportunities for questions and answers, and some panel discussions.
There are no prerequisites for this conference.
Advance Preparation: None.

The conference will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, and will conclude at 12:00 pm on Friday, March 7, 2014. Registration will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5.
The conference and the associated social events will be held at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel & Convention Center, Research Triangle Park, Durham, NC.

Course participants who cancel their registration on or before February 19, 2014 will receive a full refund. Those who cancel on or before February 26, 2014 will receive a full refund, less a $25 cancellation fee. No refund will be made for cancellations made after February 26, 2014. All cancellations must be submitted in writing, as outlined in the School's cancellation policy.
