The following is a list of bills related to planning, land use regulation, environment, transportation, and similar matters that were considered in the 2001 session of the North Carolina General Assembly.

The bills are listed in order of introduction, with Senate bills being listed first and House bills following. If there is an identical bill, the bill number of that bill is noted in the "Identical" column. The "House Action" and "Senate Action" columns note the last action on the bill in each chamber (generally noting if the bill has been reported out of committee or been passed by the chamber). The "Session Law Chapter No." column provides the official chapter number for bills that have passed both houses, been signed by the Governor, and become law (bills with " Ch. ___" in this last column have been ratified but not yet signed by the Governor).

The General Assembly will reconvene on May 28, 2002. Only the following bills are eligible for consideration in 2002:

1. Bills that passed third reading in the house of introduction in 2001 (carryover bills);
2. Bills directly affecting the 2002-03 state budget (introduced by 6/13/02);
3. Study commission bills (introduced by 6/5/02);
4. Noncontroversial local bills (introduced by 6/12/02);
5. Bills on state and local retirement systems (introduced by 6/12/02) and bills making appointments to state boards and commissions:
6. Other matters if approved by two-thirds of each house;
7. Resolutions, bills to disapprove administrative rules, and Constitutional amendments.

Copies of the texts of all bills, and a current detailed legislative history for each bill, can be obtained through the General Assembly’s web site: http://www.ncga.state.nc.us/html2001/BillInfo/BillInfo.html
