&
North Carolina Department of Commerce, Division of Community Assistance

February 26 - 28, 2008
March 25 - 27, 2008

Overview

The Community Development Academy is an intensive, six-day course that covers the concepts, methods and strategies of community development. With emphasis on the administration of Community Development Block Grants for both Small Cities and Entitlement Jurisdictions, the course provides community development practitioners with significant perspective and practical skills on the regulations and legal responsibilities surrounding community development in North Carolina.

The training enables each participant to receive a “Certificate in Grant Administration” awarded by the School of Government and the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Division of Community Assistance. In order to receive a certificate, participants must attend the entire training course and successfully complete an open-book exam.

School of Government faculty, Division of Community Assistance and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development staff, community development practitioners, and others will serve as instructors.
