In summer 2007, over 250 8th and 10th grade teachers participated in Consortium professional development Participant evaluations included the following comments:

- Innovative, collaborative civic education programs in 81 NC counties have received funding through the Consortium's Small Grants program, which is funded by the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation.
- The NC Civic Index, the nation’s first-ever study of youth and adult civic engagement, was release in 2003 and has served as a model for other states seeking to assess civic engagement.
