Welcome
School of Government resources include many publications and web-based materials explaining North Carolina law and government. You can find information about these resources, organized by subject area, at our Courses and Resources page.
The School is home to the NC Civic Education Consortium. Established in 1997 with support from the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation, the Consortium furthers the School's commitment to public service and the state of North Carolina by working with schools, governments (state and local), and community organizations to prepare our state's young people to be active, responsible citizens. The Consortium has the following goals:
- Provide schools, governments, and community organizations with the most effective models, tools, and techniques for educating youth about how to engage in civic life.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among those who promote youth civic education and engagement.
- Encourage young people to consider careers in public service.
