Welcome
School of Government programs in evaluation and measurement are designed to increase awareness of the value of performance measurement and program evaluation among public officials, while also enhancing the skills of practitioners using these tools. Faculty members in this area work with local government budget officials, managers, department heads, and other state and local officials.
The School is home to the North Carolina Benchmarking Project, a cooperative project involving more than a dozen North Carolina municipalities in comparative performance measurement. Data-based comparison of performance statistics from this project has been credited as the catalyst for numerous improvements in service quality and efficiency among the participating local governments.
