Welcome
School of Government programs in evaluation and measurement increase awareness of the value of performance measurement and program evaluation, and enhance the skills of practitioners using these tools.
The School of Government intensified its work in performance measurement and evaluation in the mid-1990s, when it initiated the North Carolina Local Government Performance Measurement Project (now the North Carolina Benchmarking Project) and added faculty members with these specialties. Program expansion through instruction, advising, and publications has been steady through the years.
Audience for the School’s Work in Evaluation and Measurement
The primary audience for the work in evaluation and measurement consists of local government budget officials, managers, department heads, and other local government staff members, and future administrators, now enrolled in graduate courses. A more limited audience for evaluation and measurement includes local elected officials, finance officers, and state government officials and agencies.
