The School of Government provides significant educational and other resources in the area of local government budget, finance, and taxation. Faculty working in these areas provide general and legal technical assistance, conduct applied research, and offer instruction to public officials in raising, managing, and expending local government financial resources. Specific areas of focus include the following:

  • Budget preparation and enactment
  • Capital planning and finance
  • Cash management and investment of public funds
  • Environmental finance
  • Governmental accounting and financial reporting
  • Property tax appraisal and assessment
