April 2008 Update

The 2007 General Assembly enacted G.S. 160A-280, which permits a local government to donate personal property that is surplus, obsolete, or unused to certain other entities. Those other entities are any other governmental unit within the United States, a sister city in some other country, or a nonprofit organization established within the United States. The statute does not establish any procedural requirements that must be followed before the donation is made.
