
Jason Jones joined the School of Government as a research associate in 2020. Jason has just over seven years of experience in city and county government in North Carolina, working out of both Human Resources and Budget with The City of Salisbury and Guilford County. He has worked on a variety of projects touching strategic planning, data operationalization, continuous improvement, community partnerships, and leadership development. He focuses on helping organizations ask better questions and seek more comprehensive answers by acting as an internal consultant on projects related to data-informed decision making and innovation.
Jason has significant experience with complex qualitative and quantitative data analysis, data governance, strategic decision making, human-centered design, and translating between the business and information technology realms. Jason holds a BA in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration from North Carolina State University. Jason is also a Data Carpentry certified instructor and has completed multiple human-centered design training programs including Designing for Social Systems with The d.school at Stanford. Jason is also a self-taught programming and data visualization enthusiast, working primarily in R and JavaScript.
