Lessons from Recent Commitment Appeals

Live date:
Friday, January 29, 2021 - 2:45pm
In this session, longtime appellate defender David Andrews examines recent decisions that affect your work as a civil commitment attorney. These cases touch on affidavits and petitions, the examination process, confrontation in the civil commitment setting, and the notion of judges as unwilling litigators. The session is designed to help improve your practice on the trial level and also to protect your clients rights on appeal.

David Andrews, Assistant Appellate Defender, Office of the Appellate Defender
