Risk-Needs Assessment of North Carolina Probationers

Price:
$60.00

In 2011, as part of the Justice Reinvestment Act, North Carolina passed legislation requiring the Division of Adult Correction to assess each probationer for risk of reoffending, and to place each probationer in a supervision level based on his or her risk of reoffending and criminogenic needs. This virtual CLE,"Risk-Needs Assessment of North Carolina Probationers," provides basic instruction on the process Community Corrections has developed to place North Carolina probationers in one of five supervision levels. Presenters describe the instruments that are used to assess each probationer in order to determine his or her supervision level, and discuss the practical ramifications of having been placed in a given level. How does the supervision level affect the way in which the probationer is supervised? How can court actors use this information, and how can defense attorneys in particular protect their clients' rights? This online program was recorded in January 2013 by Alyson Grine, Defender Educator at the UNC School of Government; and Anne Precythe, Supervision Services Administrator at the Community Corrections Section of the Division of Adult Correction.
