David Brown joined the School of Government in August 2012 to coordinate the School’s expanded outreach and service to the General Assembly and to state and local officials. Previously, he spent eight years at the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) in Washington, DC. While at GAO he conducted performance audits of major federal programs, which involved site visits in North Carolina and many other states. His work resulted in detailed reports and recommendations to the U.S. Congress. Brown earned a BA in government and English from the University of Virginia and a master's degree in public policy from the College of William and Mary.
