Board Trainings in Planning and Development Regulation Available Online and In-Person

Equip your development review board to be more efficient and effective with a new series of in-person and online trainings created especially for boards making development decisions. Learn the basics of planning and zoning law, how to make defensible decisions (and avoid lawsuits), and how to make the best decisions for communities.

BOARD WORKSHOPS IN YOUR REGION

The School of Government offers regional half-day workshops across the state each spring for planning boards, boards of adjustment, and other citizen boards engaged in development regulation.

Audience: Boards making or advising on land development regulation decisions, including governing boards, planning boards, boards of adjustment, and preservation commissions, as well as planning and zoning staff.

Credit: AICP (3 hours; 1.5 legal), CZO (3 hours), and CLG (3 hours) (typically, may variy annually).

Registration: To register online or for more information, a link will appear here as each annual program becomes available..

Fee: $55 per person (typical)

 Board workshops are coordinated in conjunction with American Planning Association-North Carolina Chapter and other local or regional partners
