The Spring Public Defender Attorney & Investigator Conference provides training on current topics of interest to public defender attorneys and public defender investigators. Topics at past conferences have included gangs, prison and jail credit, computer forensics, sex offender registration, eyewitness identification, evaluating indigent defense, field sobriety tests, search warrants, and ethics issues for attorneys and investigators. The conference is open to public, appellate, and capital defenders, special counsel, attorneys in the IDS central office, and investigators in a public or capital defender office. North Carolina private investigators, federal public defender investigators, and members of the Center for Death Penalty Litigation (CDPL), North Carolina Prisoner Legal Services, Inc. (PLS), and Fair Trial Initiative (FTI) offices are also welcome. This conference is not open to private attorneys.
The conference will be held at the Hilton North Raleigh in Raleigh, NC.
