Introduction to Public Employment Law

This five-day course is for those who are new to public employment law and human resource management. It is open to employees of North Carolina state and local government who have responsibilities for human resource functions and to attorneys in private practice who represent public sector clients. Instructors include faculty and practicing attorneys.

Topics of discussion include legal aspects of recruitment and selection, wage and hour law, personnel records, employment at will and its exceptions, FMLA, ADA, drug-testing and workplace searches, and discipline and discharge.

 

Attendees

Human resources directors, and staff, city and county attorneys, city and county managers, city and county clerks and anyone involved in human resources management on a regular basis

Monday 1-5pm

Tuesday - Thursday 9am-5pm

Friday 9am-Noon
