Budgeting and Financial Planning, Part I: Annual Budget

This course covers the policy and legal framework of budget preparation and enactment in North Carolina local government. It also presents the numerous processes, techniques, and behavioral aspects of budget development as they relate to producing an annual balanced budget ordinance, which is required by the Local Government Budget and Fiscal Control Act.

The School of Government will provide a notebook containing instructional materials.

Prerequisites

None

Teaching Methods

Instructors: School of Government faculty members, NCACC staff, and experienced local government officials.

Teaching Methods: Lectures, class discussions, case studies and referral to actual experiences as teaching methods.

CPAs earn 25.5 CPE hours

Completion of this course fulfills one of the core course requirements for the Local Government Finance Officers Certification Program

Cancellation
Policy

Course participants who cancel their registration on or before October 27, 2009, will receive a full refund. Those who cancel on or before November 03, 2009, will receive a full refund, less a $25 cancellation fee. No refund will be made for cancellations made after November 03, 2009. All cancellations must be submitted in writing, as outlined in the School's cancellation policy.
