The North Carolina City and County Management Seminar focuses on topics of interest to city and county managers and administrators. The theme of the 2010 49th annual seminar is “Charting a Steady Course in a Sea of Change.”
The ICMA University Workshop is “Using Right-Brain Thinking to Create Better Communities.” Governor Beverly Perdue will deliver the keynote address. Concurrent sessions will include discussions of Maverick Thinking: How to Inject Innovation into Your Organization; Leadership Development for Local Elected Officials: The Manager’s Role; Health Care Reform: Impact on Your Community, Your Workforce, Your Clients; Social Media: How Should Local Managers Respond?; Preparing for the 2010 Census and 2011 Redistricting: Legal, Procedural, and Technological Implications for Local Government; Orienting Newly Elected Officials.
Workshop topics include "Analyzing and Communicating Local Financial Condition" and "Capitalizing on Your Human Resources."

The program will be held at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center in Durham. The block of rooms at the Sheraton is currently full.
Two hotels have been set up with an overflow of sleeping rooms and are listed as the 49th Annual City and County Management Seminar block of rooms. Both will honor the $98 rate through January 26 at 5pm.

Course participants who cancel their registration on or before January 20, 2010, will receive a full refund. Those who cancel on or before January 27, 2010, will receive a full refund, less a $25 cancellation fee. No refund will be made for cancellations made after January 27, 2010. All cancellations must be submitted in writing, as outlined in the School's cancellation policy.
