orientation program for newly elected members

This course is designed to help prepare newly elected members of the NC General Assembly for their first session in office. Before the session begins, the Legislative Services Office organizes two days of orientation programs in Raleigh, followed by two days of additional programs in Chapel Hill offered by the School of Government. The Chapel Hill program addresses issues such as demographic trends, state history, the limits on legislative authority in the NC Constitution. At the conclusion of the legislature's long session, the members are invited to return to Chapel Hill for another short program designed to help them reflect on their experience and prepare for the short session of the legislature.

Attorneys will earn 12 CLE credit, including credit for study of legal ethics
