Essentials of Economic Development

Essentials of Economic Development is designed to help local, regional, and state officials understand the fundamentals of economic development in the current regional, national, and global economic climate.  The workshop will help participants understand what is required to make their communities attractive for investment in the new economy.  Participants will examine various economic development strategies and consider how governments, along with the nonprofit and private sectors, can help facilitate the process of creating jobs and wealth.

We are very disappointed that low registration and budget constraints have forced us to cancel the Essentials of Economic  Development course scheduled for March 11, 2009 at Fayetteville Technical Community College. We will be offering the course on April 8, 2009 in Boone, and hope that you will be able to join us then. 

We are also actively working to identify an opportunity to offer this training in the most convenient, accessible, and cost-effective way possible for eastern North Carolina and will keep this site updated as we make these arrangements in the coming weeks.

The Boone course will be held at the Broyhill Inn and Appalachian Conference Center.  A group of 25 rooms located at the conference center have been reserved at a special rate of $94.00 per night. . To reserve a room, call 800.951.6048 and ask for the
