Local Finance: Making Sense of Annual Financial Statements
As stewards of the public trust, local elected officials must put in place the funding and infrastructure their community needs to thrive. This engaging one-day workshop is designed to help city council members and county commissioners understand how to read annual financial statements. Elected officials will learn the right questions to ask and how the decisions they make impact their community’s future. They are encouraged to invite their managers, administrators, and finance directors to join them.
This program will conclude with a 2 hour segment on ethics which meets the new statutory requirement for city and county elected officials.
This Regional LeaderShop is offered through the Local Elected Leaders Academy. In addition to attending the one-day LeaderShop, veteran municipal officials may also opt to attend the second day of the Essentials of Municipal Government.
The programs are offered regionally to encourage participation and to minimize your travel time. You will be recognized for your participation through the NCACC and the NCLM. Scholarships are available through the Local Elected Leaders Academy.
Veteran elected municipal and county officials are encouraged to invite managers, administrators and finance directors to join them for the workshop.
