Courts and Judicial Administration

Chief District Judges Leadership Training

These courses are offered through the North Carolina Judicial College. They are designed to develop the leadership skills chief district court judges need in their administrative and supervisory roles. Each year we will offer a course on a particular aspect of leadership, such as communication, team building, strategic planning, case management, and managing conflict.

This year the course will focus on issues related to supervision of magistrates. The course is intended to create a common understanding of the magistrate’s roles and responsibilities; identify the chief district judge’s role as leader; and demonstrate how to set expectations, give feedback and acknowledge performance. The course will include opportunity for sharing information and strategies.
