Joan G. Brannon

Joan Brannon was a member of the faculty at the School of Government from 1971 to 2010. She created an extensive training program for magistrates, including a course for new magistrates. She also created a small-claims course that became the template for the North Carolina Judicial College's programs. Her areas of expertise included privacy, record-keeping, North Carolina justice system, and mental health law. She earned her law degree with high honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
