Essentials of Economic Development is designed to help local, regional, and state officials understand the fundamentals of economic development in the current regional, national, and global economic climate. The workshop will help participants understand what is required to make their communities attractive for investment in the new economy. Participants will examine various economic development strategies and consider how governments, along with the nonprofit and private sectors, can help facilitate the process of creating jobs and wealth.

Scholarship funds are available through the Local Elected Leaders Academy for local elected officials to use to attend Essentials of Economic Development.  Please choose your intended location in order to access the scholarship application.

Cancellation policy

Course participants who cancel their registration on or before May 1, 2012 will receive a full refund. Those who cancel on or before May 8, 2012 will receive a full refund, less a $25 cancellation fee. No refund will be made for cancellations made after May 8, 2012. All cancellations must be submitted in writing, as outlined in the School's cancellation policy.
