This course is offered through the North Carolina Judicial College and is one of the four courses required for juvenile certification by the AOC. This course is intended for District Court Judges who are relatively new to juvenile court, but could also serve as a refresher for judges with substantial experience in juvenile court. The topics that will be covered include Subchapter I of the Juvenile Code--from pre-petition to post-disposition stages in abuse, neglect, dependency, and termination of parental rights cases.

Attendees

This course is open to any District Court Judge. Preference will be given to judges who have been on the bench at least a year and who have not taken the course previously. Attendance is limited to 24 District Court Judges. Only those who can commit to attending the entire course should apply.
