This webpage is intended to offer help to North Carolina local governments interested in entering into agreements with other local governments.  It has three components:

  1. An online copy of an article entitled “Interlocal Cooperation, Regional Organizations, and City-County Consolidation”.  This is Article 10 in the Institute of Government publication County and Municipal Government in North Carolina.
  2. A link to the Interlocal Cooperation Act, N.C. Gen. Stat. §§ 160A-460 through 160A-466.
  3. An outline of links (pdf) to examples of interlocal agreements submitted to the Institute of Government’s Document Warehouse.
