Civil Commitment Conference

    Session topics at this year's conference will include a review of what commitment attorneys need to know about firearms and the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), recent appellate case updates, a primer on effective advocacy in commitment proceedings, and legal updates and strategies for representing juveniles in DSS custody who present to a mental health treatment facility.

    Attendees: This conference is open to public defenders, appellate defenders, and private attorneys who represent respondents in civil commitment.

    CLE: This conference will offer approximately 5.0 hours of continuing legal education (CLE) credit.
