New Parent Defender Training

March 13-15, 2013

This nuts-and-bolts program presents a frontloaded advocacy approach to abuse, neglect, and dependency proceedings; it also includes an introduction to termination of parental rights. Participants will have an opportunity to practice skills, such as interviewing clients and preparing for adjudication, in small workshops. Sessions at the 2011 program included ethics and the role of counsel; communicating with clients; evaluating pleadings; and dispositional advocacy.
