Knapp Library
The Joseph Palmer Knapp Library houses a large collection of material on state and local government, public administration, and management to support the School's instructional and research programs and the educational mission of the Master of Public Administration program. Reference and research services are available to all residents of North Carolina, and additional assistance is available to state and local government personnel, both elected and appointed.

Barbara Steele oversees ncIMPACT Initiative’s website, metrics, and special events, and supports the director’s communications and logistics. Previously, she was communications director for an Orlando public relations firm and the Southeast's largest specialty surgical instrument company; served as sales and marketing director for Asheville’s spa at the Grove Park Inn; and was operations director and talk show host at a TV station in South Bend, IN. When her sons were in college, Steele returned to complete her degree and graduated magna cum laude from NC State University with a B.A. in political science and nonprofit studies.
