Knapp Library
The Joseph Palmer Knapp Library houses a large collection of material on state and local government, public administration, and management to support the School's instructional and research programs and the educational mission of the Master of Public Administration program. Reference and research services are available to all residents of North Carolina, and additional assistance is available to state and local government personnel, both elected and appointed.
- Covid-19 Response

Jim Drennan joined the School of Government (then the Institute of Government) in 1974. He teaches and advises on court administration issues, judicial ethics and fairness, criminal sentencing, and judicial leadership. While on leave from 1993 through 1995, he served as director of the North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts. Drennan earned a B.A. from Furman University and a J.D. from Duke University, where he served on the editorial board of the Duke Law Journal.
