This program is designed to give court officials a better understanding of how their judgments are administered by the Department of Adult Correction. Participants will tour three correctional facilities in eastern North Carolina: a substance use treatment facility, a prison for men, and a prison for women. Each stop includes time for relevant legal instruction, and a question-and-answer period. Through interactions with staff, inmates, and residents, participants will learn more about each facility and how to craft judgments and orders that accomplish the court’s intentions. This course will be limited to 20 participants.
