Higher-Level Felony Defense, Part II

This course is sponsored by UNC-Chapel Hill School of Government, and Office of Indigent Defense Services.

This is part two of our program for attorneys interested in handling higher level felony cases at the trial level. The focus of the training will be on two important aspects of this work: defense trial strategies in serious felony cases and sentencing advocacy. Specific topics will include defending forcible felonies, eyewitness identification, self-defense, habitual felon, the law of sentencing serious felonies, mitigation investigation, preservation issues, and effective sentencing presentations. The program is comprised of lectures and intensive small group workshops. Due to the interactive nature of the program, participants are required to attend all sessions.

Higher-Level Felony Defense, Part II Agenda

Part I of this course was held in April 2018. While we recommend that participants attend both parts of the course, it is not required.

Hotel Information:
