LELA 201: Social Media Strategies and Best Practices

This course will be offered online via Zoom on September 21, 2023 from 9:00am-12:00pm.

As an elected official, does your social media presence reflect what you value? Does it deliver the message you want to the people you want to reach? 

This on-line class will familiarize you with the variety of different social media platforms and users.  You will learn how to use various strategic tools to create an engaging social media presence. And you’ll discover some surprisingly positive uses of social media that can help you go beyond campaigning to governing!

In this class you will learn:

  • Key trends shaping the multitude of social media platforms.
  • The importance of knowing your audience – demographics matter!
  • What makes an engaging social media post?
  • How content shapes your message.
  • How your message can reflect what you value.
  • Tools that make it easy to develop a social media presence.

 

LELA Level:  This is a 201 level course in the Local Elected Leaders Academy. Participants will receive

3 credits towards their Master recognition level for attending this class.
