North Carolina Child Welfare Law Trial Skills Academy

The North Carolina Child Welfare Trial Skills Academy program focuses on trial skills in abuse, neglect, and dependency proceedings. Through a combination of lecture and small group work, participants will refine important litigation skills, such as motions practice and witness examination. The program will also include sessions on discovery, making and meeting objections, hearsay, and a one-hour ethics session.

Attendees: Public defenders, private attorneys, GAL attorney advocates and DSS attorneys.

 

Teaching Methods: This program is comprised of plenary sessions and intensive small group workshops. Due to the interactive nature of the program, participants are expected to attend all sessions.
