Purchasing and Contracting 101

This four-hour program will cover the laws that local governments need to know when procuring and contracting using local, state, and federal funds. The topics include legal requirements for public contracts, competitive bidding requirements and exceptions, construction contracting, and hiring architects and engineers. This program is ideal for department heads and departmental employees, managers, attorneys, elected officials, and others who want or need to know the basic requirements for local government purchasing and contracting.

The full program will take place over two days:

  • Tuesday, January 9th, 2024 from 9:00- 11:00am
  • Wednesday, January 10th, 2024 from 9:00 - 11:00am

This training will take place online via Zoom. Each COG will decide whether to offer an in-person convening option for participants from their region. You will receive instructions for your region after you register.
