Knapp Library

The Joseph Palmer Knapp Library houses a large collection of material on state and local government, public administration, and management to support the School's instructional and research programs and the educational mission of the Master of Public Administration program. Reference and research services are available to all residents of North Carolina, and additional assistance is available to state and local government personnel, both elected and appointed.

The growing opioid epidemic in North Carolina has left local governments wondering how to construct an effective response. In partnership with BlueCross NC, the School of Government is offering a two-year program to ten teams across the state to support their policy efforts in combatting this crisis.

Prospective applicants who wish to learn more about the program, process, and implementation phases can attend a free webinar on Tuesday, March 6, at 10 a.m. hosted by School of Government faculty and staff. You can register and find more details at sog.unc.edu/opioid-webinar-registration.

This program offers technical support from School faculty, helps teams set goals and plans for implementation, and brings community teams together through regional forums for education and collaboration. The School will also provide each team $20,000 to assist with the costs of hiring a project manager and implementation efforts.

Communities may apply for this program as individual county teams, municipal-county partnerships, or multi-county collaborations. Each community must identify a core team, to be comprised of three key individuals representing different local governments and/or organizations within the community. Finalists will be selected for participation by a panel of faculty members from the School.
