G.S. 7B-301

This statute imposes a general duty for individuals and institutions to report to DSS if they have cause to suspect that a child has been abused, neglected, is dependent, or died due to maltreatment. A person who knowingly or wantonly fails to report or prevents another person from reporting will be guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor.
