Group Decision Traps and How to Avoid Them

We have all heard stories of government failures--roads to nowhere; empty industrial parks; vacant concert venues. These plans were made with the best of intentions, but ended with less-than favorable outcomes. This is a common result of the errors and pitfalls that can accompany group decision-making. Although a group decision can seem more robust than an individual’s, this isn’t always the case.

With the right strategy and guidance, however, you can lead your group to make the right decisions for your community. This interactive workshop will help individuals and groups accomplish the following:

  • Recognize decision traps, biases and, common errors in decision-making
  • Identify different types of decisions
  • Appropriately assign decision-making responsibilities
  • Practice using good decision-making approaches
