Group Decision Traps and How to Avoid Them
We have all heard stories of government failures--roads to nowhere; empty industrial parks; vacant concert venues. These plans were made with the best of intentions, but ended with less-than favorable outcomes. This is a common result of the errors and pitfalls that can accompany group decision-making. Although a group decision can seem more robust than an individual’s, this isn’t always the case.
With the right strategy and guidance, however, you can lead your group to make the right decisions for your community. This interactive workshop will help individuals and groups accomplish the following:
- Recognize decision traps, biases and, common errors in decision-making
- Identify different types of decisions
- Appropriately assign decision-making responsibilities
- Practice using good decision-making approaches
Local Government Federal Credit Union offers scholarships to local government employees to apply toward tuition for conferences, classes, and seminars offered by the School of Government. There are four deadlines to submit applications:
- March 1 (for courses starting between April 1 and June 30)
- June 1 (for courses starting between July 1 and September 30)
- September 1 (for courses starting between October 1 and December 31)
- December 1 (for courses starting between January 1 and March 31)
