Knapp Library

The Joseph Palmer Knapp Library houses a large collection of material on state and local government, public administration, and management to support the School's instructional and research programs and the educational mission of the Master of Public Administration program. Reference and research services are available to all residents of North Carolina, and additional assistance is available to state and local government personnel, both elected and appointed.

Faculty member Jonathan Morgan was elected to serve a two-year term on the board of directors of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) at its recent annual conference in Cleveland, Ohio. Morgan also led a workshop presentation at the conference on the role of economic development in addressing income inequality and wealth disparities. Morgan covered the same topic in a recent blog post, "Equity and Economic Development: What's the Connection?" for the School's Community and Economic Development blog.

IEDC is a nonpartisan, nonprofit membership organization serving more than 5,000 economic developers. Members are employed in a variety of settings including local, state, provincial, and federal governments, public-private partnerships, chambers of commerce, universities, and other institutions.

Morgan joined the School of Government in 2003. Prior to that, he worked for Regional Technology Strategies, Inc., an economic and workforce development consulting firm located in Carrboro-Chapel Hill. He has served as director of economic policy and research for the NC Department of Commerce as well as research and policy director for the NC Institute of Minority Economic Development. Currently, Morgan directs the School of Government's annual Basic Economic Development Course. Morgan earned a BA from the University of Virginia, an MPA from Clark Atlanta University, and a PhD in public administration from North Carolina State University.
